Sesame is a flowering plant in the genus Sesamum, also known as benne. It has one of the highest oil contents of any seed and boasts a rich, nutty flavor, making it a common ingredient in cuisines worldwide. Black sesame seeds are especially known for their high antioxidant content and provide a lot of calcium, manganese, and copper.
