Flaxseed

Flax (Linum usitatissimum), also known as common flax and linseed, belongs to the flax family (Linaceae). Flax is mainly cultivated for its seeds which can be ground into flour or processed into flaxseed oil, widely used as a dietary supplement and in wood treatment products. Flaxseed sprouts are edible and have a slightly spicy taste. It is important to note that excessive consumption of flaxseeds without adequate water intake can lead to intestinal obstruction. In Northern India, flaxseeds, called tisi or alsi, are traditionally roasted, ground, and eaten with cooked rice, a small amount of water, and salt.
